Husband thinks our son hates him

My son is 6 months old and a total mommas boy. My husband leaves for work before we wake up then at night gets a few hours to play with him. But lately my son has been super cranky (cutting 2 teeth) and only wants me if my husband is in the room my son will smile and laugh at him but doesn’t want him to hold him. My husband has never been around babies before so I don’t think he understands that it’s just a phase. He thinks he hates him and I can see how much it hurts him. I want to help I just don’t know what to do any advice?
