If you share a child, do you expect your spouse to celebrate Mother’s Day with you?

It’s my first Mother’s Day, and my family is planning on doing a brunch for everyone so to be sure plans wouldn’t collide I asked my partner if he had made any plans for me that day and he said “no, Mother’s Day is for your own mother” 😕 I guess it’s not that serious, but I had my hopes up for something

I think he should be celebrating you as the mother of his children. Especially if the children are too young to do it themselves. We make the rounds and visit both of our moms and then he does something for me.

I read that wrong, I thought you meant you were separated and literally share the child. Lol then no... but if you are married and have kids its kinda up to him to set something up from the kids... I mean especially when they are little because they don't know to do it or can't with out help. Just like you would do for fathers day? Sounds like he just doesn't get it yet 🙄

Honestly I might be a little ticked that he didn’t plan even a little something on behalf of he child. It’s not like an under one year old can make you a card or breakfast in bed.

Yes! He should celebrate you on Mother’s Day and you should celebrate him on Father’s day! You are the mother of your immediate families household and the mother of his children. I’m so sorry he doesn’t understand this. My husband gets me a gift because I’m a mother. We don’t have a child together yet, but I have a son from a previous relationship and he has always made it a point to get me a gift. We also get a gift for my mother and my husband’s mother.

I would be happy with some flowers or food or something. I'm not big on celebrating holidays and birthdays though. Talk to him about how you feel, he could just be misinformed that it's normal to celebrate mothers/fathers day for you spouse.

Whatever parts of my family that's around does something together whether it's brunch or a cookout or whatever. whoever thinks of it first gets the ball rolling with organization and everyone else chimes in on availability. This is my first year being a mom on Mother's Day, but I expect we will do the same that we always do.
