Be honest or keep it to yourself?

Question

Say you don’t like your partners mother because of something she said a while ago that hit you hard - but she doesn’t think you have any kind of problem with her - would you be honest with your partner about it or keep it to yourself since there’s not actually any drama going on between you and her?

I would tell my husband if something bothered my like that for sure. Actually, my husbands mom came to visit after I had our now 5 month old, it was a surprise visit and my husband was working out of town. My baby was 1 week old. I began breastfeeding my baby in my home and she made the comment, "you know, that should be private and not be done in front of people" I not only told my husband but also showed her the door. Even if theres no "drama", I wouldnt hide how I'm feeling or if somethings bothering me. Hes my partner, were each others shoulder to lean on always.

Maybe it was the hormones but my husband asked my MIL to watch the kids one day and she said yes, but make sure I feed them first. That really hurt my feelings. I didn’t go visit for a month. I told my husband but I don’t think he thought it was a big deal until I explained to him why it hurt me. And I know it sounds dumb, but I always make sure my kids are fed or take food there. Idk why she said that.

For me ... in general I have no issues with my mother-in-law. She is a good person and I’m very lucky that she treats me like another daughter. 
However, she loves to micromanage everyone. I hate it. I truly hate it. It gets under my skin so much. She will say little things and try to make you feel stupid so she feels superior. I recognize that it is a part of her own trauma so I let most of it go. It’s not a “battle” I will ever win and it’s not something I want to waste more than an eye twitch on.
If something serious ever came up, I would go straight to my wife and sit down with all of us. She’s her mom, but I am also a priority. Our marriage is important and so is maintaining healthy boundaries.

I tried keeping it bottled up and it made things a lot worse and hurt our relationship (mine and my in laws) more. I finally talked to my husband about it and let him know if it happens again I’m saying something to her.

I would tell her first because she upset me. If the issue isn’t resolved I will then tell my SO.

I tell him whenever she says or does something I don't like or agree with. He doesn't mind me telling him. I wouldn't tell her because she is so sensitive

I tell my husband literally everything annoying that his mom says or does. It’s better to let him know the little stuff now before shit hits the fan you randomly ask to not spend time with her or something. If you wait to tell him, he won’t understand that you telling him means you’ve hit your breaking point with her and might think of it as a small first argument.

I'm not the type of person that can keep my mouth shut if someone does or says something out of line that really bothers me. Especially for a prolonged period of time. I'd probably say something to my partner's mother, rather than discuss it solely with my partner.
