Any moms- must have baby list?

Question

Any moms or expecting first timers that have advice on MUST HAVES. Not oh this is cute or may be helpful. Like - Must.Haves. 
Stuff that I may not get or put on registry? 
Stuff that I should be getting right now, early on to slowly start accumulating, so I don’t get hit all at once? 
Stuff that most likely I’ll forget about or not know about, or people won’t buy? 
I’ve got just a few diapers and 2 sleepers and that’s it. I just would like to start getting more stuff, I’m a planner and would like to slowly accumulate :)  thanks ladies!

If you feel comfortable zippered sleepers are a must.  When changing a foul grumpy baby they're a God send .
Plenty of burp cloths (you'll use them like crazy) 
Bouncy seat 
Inexpensive swing (baby might not like so dont spend a lot) 
Little blue bags for dirty diaper (yes a must)
Some form of zippered or velcro swaddlers

I felt like diaper genies are a waste just use bag/grocery bag for bad diapers..
Also thought wipe warmer was a waste.. but each there own. I bought one with my 1st & sold it after the 1st week lol

Also, buy a pretty minimal amount of newborn sized clothes, as they tend to outgrow that size pretty quickly. If you do a registry, register for some basics like onesies and one-piece PJs in a variety of sizes for the first year—3-6 months, 6-9 months, 9-12 months. Sometimes a size change happens really suddenly and it’s always nice to already have at least the necessities in the next size ready to go.

The Nosefreda was our best friend. Also for clothing, a lot of money was wasted on cute baby outfits. My daughter spent nearly every single day in a one-piece zip up or button up sleeper. Plenty of burp cloths. I wouldn’t buy a ton of bibs yet. Maybe a pack of 10 to start, my daughter never needed a bib all the time but some babies with acid reflux will need them around the clock.

One of my biggest pieces of baby-gear related advice is to not get lured into the “convenience” of a travel system! Travel systems seem like a good idea but you only use the infant seat for 6-9 months and then you have a stroller that you might not even like for the next few years, just because it was part of the package. Just get a simple lightweight frame stroller that you can snap your infant seat into in the early months, and when they’re close to outgrowing the infant seat you can evaluate your needs for what kind of full-size stroller would be best for you.
I love having swaddles that just zip or Velcro up tightly like a little baby sleeping bag, instead of trying to wrap blankets for swaddling—a skill I never excelled at, especially when half asleep and trying to re-swaddle after a diaper change.

Diapers. Lots of them in lots of sizes. My son was 8 lbs and only wore the newborn ones for a little bit so don’t get too many of those. And wipes... you’ll use a “shitload” sorry, couldn’t help myself! A few fitted sheets and a few comfy blankets so you’ll have extra when doing laundry. Just a few each of a couple sizes of nipples for whatever bottles you’re getting (unless you are exclusively breastfeeding). Some babies need different sizes and you won’t know until they are around to try them out!
And this might be weird, but diapers for you. I bought the depends silhouettes (as another mom suggested) for myself with my first and I already bought more for this time. Bring some to the hospital. The hospital mesh underwear leaks and that makes it awkward when people visit you and baby. The depends ones never did. Plus, at home when it’s just you and baby sometimes you can’t rush off to go change a pad because you’re feeding or checking on the baby. Again, no leaks and they make life easier right after birth. A bottle of stool softener for when you get home. Just take it right away for a few days. And quick and easy food for your freezer... you’ll be busy at first!

Sleepers with zippers. I bought cute newborn outfits for my son and omg hardest thing to put on a fragile baby in my opinion. Sleepers are way more cozy and zippers make it so much easier to do up in the middle of the night & in general lol. 
Also get baby use to being swaddled, I started way too late with my son and he just hated it! So next baby is being swaddled from day one (it just helps them feel more safe and it helps with their startle reflex). I didn’t like the Velcro swaddle a whole lot, I did like muslin blankets though they’re very breathable and big. 
Stock up on diapers, maybe buy 1-2 cases a month. You won’t need a whole lot of NB or size 1 unless your baby is small. Maybe just one case of those to start then multiple size 2’s and a lot of size 3’s. WIPES!! Stock up on that too, honestly you’re not going to want to leave the house with a newborn (I didn’t) I also had surgery so I was in a lot of pain. Just basic baby essentials I would say is best to buy before baby comes; diaper cream, baby shampoo/wash, a couple of nice hooded bath towels and soft wash cloths, lotions, and Tylenol (if you are planning on using medicine like that), and Gripe water (great for hiccups). 
Baby play mat for tummy time!!! I didn’t read up on this enough and felt very uncomfortable placing a newborn on the floor for tummy time so we got a play mat and it made it better for sure but we didn’t get it till he was 5 months 😖 and I wish I started tummy time more often and sooner so he could have maybe reached some milestones sooner and quicker. 
Other then that it’s trial and error haha we had so many things we didn’t need but used because we had them and now they take up so much space because you only can use them for so long (multiple bouncy chairs, swings, 2 play pens🙄, baby bath tub). It’s all nice to have for sure, sometimes those things made it easier but my son wasn’t a fan of the bouncy chair till he was like 3-4 months and swing he didn’t enjoy. A baby tub is great if you don’t have a tub but I bathed him in the sink too with one of the infant bath seats you can get it’s like a mesh thing and it folds up!
