Exactly the opposite - I had lots of people say don’t worry if you can’t breastfeed, some people can’t etc...I decided to try and stick with it for six weeks, now feeding my daughter after eight months and really glad I did

I agree with some of the other posters. I had breastfeeding difficulties but was determined to continue. I was told at 6 wk check by my health visitor that I needed to add formula as baby wasn’t getting enough. She’d gone from less than 1st centile to 9th centile in 6 weeks! I went home in tears and reluctantly fed her formula. My husband came home and was so angry, he reassured me that I was doing great so I stopped the formula. By 4 months we’d overcome the difficulties and she was breastfeeding great. she’d reached the 50th centile too! Women need more information and support about managing breastfeeding difficulties, most want to breastfeed but feel unable to and it’s often down to insufficient support.

The opposite! I think people are way too ready to just use formula and not even bother trying to BF!

With my first I felt a lot of pressure from midwives, other mums, family and friends. I also put a lot of pressure on myself and was devastated when I couldn’t do it.  This time I’m going to go with what baby needs and realise it doesn’t work for everyone. If I can I’ll be over the moon but I will see what happens.

I’ve breastfed both of mine. The first one I pumped a lot but this time round just straight from the boob! 
I totally think fed is best but I do find breastfeeding a lot easier then bottlefeeding! Just whack em on and your good to go!
I do know people that can’t stand the idea, tried and couldn’t and love it! 
Each to their own. But honestly do try - the pounds fall off quicker, it’s free and it’s a proper lovely bond!! 
Also health professionals I’ve found to be pretty happy about it as I’m guessing they have quotas!

It's felt like every leaflet and health care professional I talked too promoted how great breast feeding is for baby. I know this is right but it was sooooo forcefully drummed in. We had 3 sessions of anti natal classes on NHS and one whole one was on breast feeding. Not a clue what to do with a bottle. When having trouble in hospital a m/w warned me of the dangers using formula! Yes she used the word danger

Only seen one midwife so far, cant comment on that one but definately pressure from my misters mum! My mums quite relaxed and open about it all but that's all I hear off his, I dont mind so much but I've repeated "I'm giving it my best go but if I have to pump I'll pump, if I have to just use formula then that's how it goes, we'll just have to see when we get there" then the "yeah but breast is the better option, I got through it, you've got to try, it's not that bad, make sure you try".......
Just kinda tired of repeating myself 😩

Yep. I found the complete opposite. Everyone talks about the "breast is best" crew and making people feel bad for using formula... But I think personally it is so far the other way! People (health care, friends, family) have made sooo much of a point in saying don't feel bad if you can't, fed is best, etc etc etc that actually no one had ever really spelt out the benefits of breastfeeding and how important it is for me and baby. The only thing I was ever told was that it's best to try and BF for 6 months. No one told me why, what benefits, or that its actually EXTREMELY hard and many women struggle with it. But also they never told me there is a world of support out there to help.
... And I am no means a hardcore breast is best formula shamer, but this is just what I have experienced. I wish there had been more emphasis on breastfeeding while I was pregnant and had just given birth.

I feel the opposite! When I tell people I want to breastfeed I feel like all I get is negative responses like “it’s really sore” “it’s so hard” “I tried it and had to stop” “try it fot the first couple of days but don’t bother after that” 🙁
Really makes me doubt myself. I’ve already bought a breast pump and boppy pillow because I’m determined I’m making it work.
I want to breastfeed until my baby starts to eat solid foods if possible.
