Is it normal to skip 2 consecutive periods?

Amy • Biz owner, was a teen mom to a now 18 year old 🩷. Baby #2 was a 5 week NICU warrior born @ 34 weeks in August 2020 💙. Baby #3 born at 33+2 in June 2023, currently in NICU 🩷

so I used Mirena IUDs from 2005 to 2017, I had maybe 4 periods total over that entire time. The IUD stopped my periods completely which was a huge benefit for me. I went birth control free for a year because of a surgery I had in 2017, then had another Mirena put in on March 8rh 2017, which was 3 days before my expected period. That period never showed up, but then my periods came back, and they were regular every 26 days as they had always been. I was irritated because one of the biggest draws to that IUD was that I wouldn’t have to deal with my period anymore.

The last couple of months I’ve been having skipped periods, 2 periods back to back, spotting in between, shots of pelvic pain and my flow became heavy and uncomfortable ( i’m one of the lucky ones who usually has very short and very light flows, barely even need a tampon at its heaviest). I decided to take the Mirena out and have a ParaGard put in instead. I understood that it would make my periods longer and heavier but at least they would be reliable and I would not be on artificial hormones anymore. I had my ParaGard put in on April 3 this year, my period was due 6 days later and I didn’t get it. My next period was due today, still no sign of it. pregnancy tests are negative. Is this normal?
