Membrane strip for induced labor? How bad does it hurt?

I’m 36+5 being induced on Friday at 37 weeks due to high blood pressure. Will I have my membranes stripped? My cousin was induced by the same doctor as me (also at 37 weeks for high blood pressure) and they didn’t strip her membranes, but a friend of mine had hers stripped a few days before induction. 
I heard this is really painful. How bad is it? How many of you ladies had your membranes stripped, and why? Will I have mine stripped for induction?

I had them stripped, it did nothing and I could hardly feel it at all, but at that point baby was already very very low I was 3cm dilated and 90% effaced. But really it is very unlikely to hurt worse than actual labor, and it will be very quick, I wouldn’t worry about that part.

I heard it hurts so I was expecting horrible.  But honestly it felt like them checking how dilated you are. Maybe a tad bit worse.

I’m going to be very honest, because I didn’t know how painful it was and was not prepared. 
It hurts, a lot. I’d say it lasts about 10-20 seconds. 
When I apologized to my doctor for crying during it, she laughed and said “I was up to my elbow inside of you! It’s supposed to hurt a lot!”
I never want to scare anyone, but I didn’t think it would hurt AT ALL so I think had I been prepared, it would have been better

I could be wrong but I believe they will strip if you’re not progressing enough on your own basically or to kind of speed things up. I’ve never had it but I know two people who have. One was my sister who was in labor in the hospital and they stripped her membranes bc she wasnt progressing (she wasn’t induced) and the second person I know it happened bc she is now past her DD and has been stuck at 1.5cm dilated for like a month (looking like she will be induced)
