Worried I wont get to peak at my baby.

I have my first ob appointment this Friday. I'll be 8 weeks Tuesday or Wednesday. They told me this was a long appointment. My husband is taking off of work in the morning and everything because he is so excited to come with me. My last pregnancy was 6 years ago so I dont remember much. I am nervous they wont give me a scan to give me a date. I really would like to see baby's heartbeat and to know if everything is ok. I had to take clomid this time around and I just want to make sure things are looking ok. Do I ask for one if they dont give me one? I have seen so many women get one at their 8 week scan.
