Advice needed

Me and my SO are looking to purchase a house in Florida in the coming months. We both live and work in NYC but we both like Florida. Our income in NYC is double what Florida will pay for our position. We plan to hire someone to do weekly check with the house meanwhile we're in NYC. The house price is low right now that's why we wanted to buy one asap. However would it be best to buy the house while we're in Florida? Like somewhere close to our jobs or buy the house now and possibly have a long commute to work maybe a hour or so when we move there. We're looking at 3yr time to move to Florida. We've only been to Florida once and we have family members there.
