Feeling like a failure as a mom

So this morning my daughter wakes up. First thing I do is feed and change her. I knew she had a poopy butt so that came first. I notice something shiny amongst the explosion of poop and realize it is a dime. My first thought is “Oh shit, I REALLLY hope that there isn’t anymore.”

So, I feel like a total failure as a mommy for this happening. My daughter gets into EVERYTHING but we try to be very conscious about what is within her reach. We obviously weren’t perfect and I missed catching her get ahold of it in the first place but it is a lesson learned for us.

She has been acting just fine, no obvious signs of a foreign body. She had mucousy stool a couple days ago but I just assumed that it was from maybe the new foods we introduced and her teething. As long as she is still eating and acting okay I am holding off until her 9 month check up on Wednesday to go to the doctor.

So, I guess take this as a lesson learned from us that babies can get into anything in the blink of an eye. I hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else!
