Baby led weaning question.

Baby led weaning, so it’s safest to cut foods into strips until they get the pincer grasp, correct? Because smaller pieces can bypass the gag reflex and they can choke. But what about the strips, when they bite off small chunks? Lol this doesn’t make sense! This is what I’ve been told multiple times and it seems like it contradicts itself. Trying to get things straight before we start in a month!

A girlfriend of mine started with puffs and mum mums, in very small pieces.. easily dissolvable until her baby figured out how to chew. Baby is now almost 8 months and is eating bite sized foods with no problem and has pincer grasp! I know all babies are different but to me, that sounds more doable, and I’m more worried about chunks like blueberries something that would totally plug the hole.. so if it’s small enough, even if swallowed whole it wouldn’t be choked on? This is what she did and I’m curious if anyone else tried that? Or if someone can explain the strips thing better. Thanks everyone
