Baby not making eye contact.. autism?

Question

So I went down the rabbit hole with google. I merely went to see when babies do something and ended up somewhere very, very bad. 
I always believe the bad. Lol
Anyways, my baby is 5.5 weeks old and he doesn’t really make much eye contact. He’s always staring past me or a light or something.
He still only really sleeps and eats. Doesn’t do much.
It showed this is autism. Is it? Are they supposed to be holding a look? Debating if I need to call my ped or wait until my 2 month appointment in 3 weeks.

I really don’t think you can diagnose an infant with autism. Especially that young. Their eyesight is still developing

Step away from the google! Lol seriously though don’t worry about that stuff until they are around 2-3 and not meeting milestones like talking. Most babies don’t make a lot of eye contact under 2 months.

It’s really early to be thinking about autism. I’ve been in childcare for about 20 years now and it’s normal for babies to not make eye contact. Their eyesight as well as their muscles are still developing so it’s normal for them to even have wandering or cross-eyes for several months. Usually by the time they are 2 more symptoms will be present if they are autistic

This is why it looks like he is looking past you. They cant really see. But if it continues, get to doctor to double check for cataracts, and make them check his retinas.

Baby is still learning literally everything. Head control, turning towards sounds and looking at things directly. There is nothing wrong with your child, relax a little

5.5 weeks!? They can barely see 5 feet away at that age, you don’t need to worry about autism until he’s old enough to walk, talk, etc. and even then, I don’t think doctors even consider testing until after age 2.

Your baby is 5 weeks old. Please don’t start trying to diagnose every little thing. If the baby was 5 YEARS old it’d be a whole different thing.

He’s eyes aren’t developed enough to focus on you so what you think is looking past you is usually baby trying to look at you.
