Labour, who is in the room?

I know it’s really early to be thinking about this but I keep worrying about it.
In the uk we are allowed 2 people for a vaginal birth and 1 for csection.
I want my husband there either way because he is my rock and I know he will make the whole process so much easier for me. And of course it’s his baby so of course he should be there :) 
Here’s my problem. I feel like if I have a vaginal birth it’s the right thing to give my mum her place and have her in there but I just feel like it’s such a personal moment between and my husband and I don’t really want anyone else there. 
I feel so guilty saying that because I don’t want to upset my mum.
Is anybody else only having their husband/partner in with them?

My husband will be the only one in the room with me. We actually don’t plan to tell anyone that we are in labor at all. I don’t want to have to deal with visitors while I am going through that, so we will let everyone know once the baby is born and we have some bonding time with him first.

1st was my husband and my mother the whole time. My dad hung out for awhile as well but left before birth and went home. 
2nd was my husband, my mother and mother in law the whole time. My father, father in law, and my son were in the room and left right before the birth so go to the waiting room. 
3rd my husband was the only one in the room but my birth was so fast no one could of made it in. My mother in law and father in law were in the waiting room with my older 2. 
4th again only my husband. No one else even at the hospital. 
For my 5th it will only be my husband in the room unless my 2 oldest choose to be in there but that is up to them.

I want my husband and my mom and nobody else. I have some health issues so would feel better knowing my mom is keeping her eyes on me while husband can focus more on labor and baby. Really don’t want to tell anyone we are in labor either. Would rather alert after delivery and keep phones off.

With my son I was deadset on only having my husband in the room and he was for most of it. We thought we had some time so my mom went to get him some food and when she came in I was about to push. She ended up putting a cold wash cloth on my head and was really calm. That was helpful for both me and my husband actually. I’m adopted so she’s never seen a delivery firsthand. We’re all glad she was there. Now that I have a three year old she’ll have to babysit when I go to the hospital and to be honest I’m a little nervous she won’t be there! Maybe your mom can be in there leading up to the birth if you want, your husband might appreciate the help. If you don’t want her in there when you actually deliver just tell the nurses your plan and they’ll take care of it so you’re not asking her to leave. I’m sure she’d be a happy to respect your wishes either way.

My husband and nobody else. I don’t feel comfortable with my in laws being in there. Mentioned it to my sister in law and she didn’t seem to want to be in there. My mother is not apart of my life anymore so I have been crying and super upset about laboring.

Our hospital has the same rules: 2 people for vaginal, 1 person for c-section. I had a vaginal delivery with our first and my husband was the only one in the room. No regrets. It’s an intimate moment: we expanded our very own little family and we did it together. We are making the same choice with this baby as well.
* (my friend always jokes that if no one else is there to help you conceive,  no one else needs to be there to help you deliver (besides the medical team) 😂). Worse case scenario, don’t share the hospital rules with anyone and do what you and your husband think is best for your family.

I will be having my hubby, my mom,his mom and my2 sisters. This is our third and last baby so I wanted those close to us there

 As you said it's a special moment with only you and your husband, you shouldn't feel guilty, I'm sure she will understand! We plan on telling our parents that we're in labour just to let them know that the baby is on its way but even if I'm very close to my mom, and she's really helping me during my pregnancy and I know I can ask her whatever question is on my mind, I wouldn't feel comfortable having her with my husband and I. 
However, it might change if labour is not going well as I would want my mother to reassure me!
