If a credit card company filed a lawsuit, can you settle it with them without going to the court and stuff?

May be a dumb question but how do you get sued by a credit card company? Like what are the reasons? Not paying on them?

My husband got sued by capital one before we were married and he never went to court, it was handled with out him and he was simply sent the judgment and the garnishment papers. Once it hit a certain point the credit card company was no longer willing to work with him in the payments. They simply sued him and won. They won court costs, plus interest, plus late fees, plus the balance.  Try and work it out with the credit company before you get sued.🤨

If it’s for a debt you should be able to settle on an amount or payments.
