Did you have your cervix checked?

My doctor told me at my next appointment (I'll be 36 weeks) they can check my cervix if I want since they will be there anyway for the group b strep test. I'm curious to see if I'm dialated at all, but I've heard other people say not to unless its medically necessary or you're in labor

I’m denying checks unless medically necessary. I’m usually GBS positive, and cervical checks can increase the chance of infection. 
Effacement and dilation don’t mean anything until you’re actually in labor. My aunt was at 3cm for a month before she had to be induced, and I never dilate at all until I’m actually in labor. I just don’t see the point.

Yes but I have a high cervix and it hurt soooo bad.  I remember checking my cervix was more painful/traumatic than giving birth with my first.   I’m going to ask them not to check anymore.

I got checked at 33 weeks and I am 3cm dilated

I just got checked at 35 weeks yesterday. Not even a full 1cm yet but was told she's head down and low. I have 1 more appt in 2 weeks before I'm on weekly, so for my case, I don't see the harm in it. Everyone is different though!

Definitely not. This is my 3rd and I’ve never had one until I was in labor.

Unless medically necessary there is no need for cervical checks at this stage of pregnancy. The only time I ever had a cervical check was when I was 5 days overdue and booking in an induction, so they need to check if your dilated at all and that will help determine what’s the best method of induction for you. During the check it was so quick because I lost my mucous plug and he said I was already 3-4cm. Thankfully I went into labour naturally that night and didn’t need an induction. Obviously during labour they check your cervix.

Me dr told me at my 35 week that she won’t check until 37 weeks unless I want her to.

I got checked at my last appointment a couple weeks ago because I was having intense cramping. Only a cm dilated, but I could be more now. It honestly doesn’t matter though, I was at 3 cm dilated for like 2 or 3 weeks with my last pregnancy.

Im.getting money done too at 36 weeks so in 4 weeks..I'm curious but I think I know. But why are they saying not to have it checked ?

I was checked when I was pregnant with my first. I will absolutely be refusing this time around. 
There is a  risk for infection also you can be dilated for weeks. It means nothing until your baby is ready.
