How much would you pay for photography services?

I'm starting a photography business but I'm not sure how much is fair to charge.  I have been doing it for years but not charging enough to be able to work from home doing it.  It was more of a hobby while I worked full-time.
What is a reasonable price for things like family photography, newborn photography, senior photos, etc?  I tried looking at competitors but their prices are all over the place.

Have you taken classes? Are you certified? It’s considered a business if you are profiting off of it. Do you know how to properly edit? Are you using a professional camera? 
All of that goes into pricing. I honestly know people who try to charge people to take their pictures from their phone. Or they buy an expensive camera and just think they’re photographer material.

i’d say to start between 150-300 depending on what you do. i’ve seen newborn packages run up to 600 dollars before😳

I’m a graphic designer and photographer and honestly the BIGGEST lesson i learned was: 
Price your service for what it’s worth and you will get ideal clients!!! 
Put it this way: luxury cars you hardly EVER see commercials for. I’ve NEVER seen a Rolls Royce commercial, but they’re SO expensive. That’s because they believe in the quality of their product. 
Same goes to you. If you’ve been doing it for a few years I’m sure you have the skills it takes to be a full time photographer! So be confident in yourself and set your prices that are worthy of your time. 
If you’re spending an hour at a session, a few hours at home retouching, then paying for storage space, etc. is it really worth the $50? 
I never charge less than $150. Last year i was shooting weddings at $500!!! CRAZY. 
This year: my clients are paying $1,200 !! 
Know your worth and your ideal client will pay that! I promise.

It depends on how good you are. Start your pricing out on the low end and raise it every year as you learn and improve.

I don't think I'll be much help but the only photography service we have ever used was when our son was born and the photographer comes to your hospital room, we paid $240 for that. It was 1 large printed photo and then all photos put on a USB

I don’t charge either, but I do have a maternity photo shoot in July & she took $50 to save the spot/date and we also have to pay $150 the day of. 
This is for 1-2 hour, outfit changes, & driving to the spot. 
She uses the $50 to buy any outfits or props that the clients may want and those stay in her collection. 
It ultimately depends on your location!
