How many people do you know claim to be a Christian but what they do says otherwise?

I go to a Christian school and I know a few people in my youth group who go to a Christian school too. They talk about a majority of their school peers claim to be Christian but what actions they do, and words they say prove otherwise. I've made the mistake of assuming that just because I go to a Christian school means everyone has to at least be familiar with God. Right? Nope. They swear like sailors and I don't think I've overheard anyone mention God except when a few guys mocked me for it for no reason. Do you know anyone who claims to be a believer in Christ but their actions and desires reveal different?

As Christians you shouldn't judge others an this poll is just that. They may act one way but what matters is their hearts. Maybe you should try leading by example an getting other people to do as well instead of judging their character. Befriend & love them. Show them the way.

All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, you will probably go through season where you don’t look like a Christian either. Only God knows people’s hearts, don’t try to play God.

Many many people say they are Christians but don’t show Christ in their lives. In fact the bible says this will happen. Many will say “lord lord” and Jesus will say He never knew them (Matthew 7:21). When people say they are Christians we need to judge their behaviour against the Bible and hold them to that standard. It is our Christian duty to correct their behaviour. In fact it’s the loving thing to do. The unloving thing would be to let them keep sinning. You can’t claim to be a Christ follower and not follow Christ.

I know a lot of true believers who sin like everyone else, but I also know a lot of people who claim it but have regular habits of sin that they ignore. I think in some areas people are so used to saying they are Christian but they don’t really practice. 
But there is definitely a difference between having a rough season and just hypocrisy.

I went to a Catholic high school and there was really only one other person who was devote in their faith. Most people just went to the school for the good eduction. Plenty of people swore, did drugs, and underaged drinking. Most were still virgins but wouldn’t be surprised if some had already lost that card. And Catholic college is even worst.

It is perfectly fine that you are making an observation of other Christians around you. The Bible says you will know them by their fruit. (Luke 6:43-44) Similarly, it's like getting to know someone based off their actions.
There are two types of fruit a person can display. 
1. The lust (fruit) of the flesh - “Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God." (Galatians‬ ‭5:19-21‬)
2. Fruit of the spirit - “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.” (Galatians‬ ‭5:22-24‬)
The Bible also says that many are called and few are chosen (Matthew 22:14). Meaning that there are many who are called to Christ. Unfortunately they chose to bare bad fruit, they chose to practice things that "will not inherit the kingdom of God" as described in the verses above (Galatians‬ ‭5:22-24). These people are not chosen. 
It's very rare in our culture and time that Christians chose to follow Jesus closely. I'm also young and see the others around me, but on rare occasion I meet someone who strives to bare good fruit. No one is perfect, but you know when a person actions/intentions are deliberate and nonchalant. Jesus knows the difference also.

My problem is with Christian’s who think our religion should govern others. God is love. The end. Christians running around policing uteruses and bedrooms. God had better things to worry about than cuss words. Read your bible. Pray with your children. Treat others with dignity and kindness. Spread love. HELP. Don’t judge. That was what Jesus did and that is what we are called to do. And my religious choices should never condemn nor negatively affect another’s experience on this earth.
