Temper tantrums

Chantelle • Mamma of a beautiful 4 year old spectrum boy.

My son's just over 2 years old now.. He doesn't speak yet. He has terrible tantrums. Headbutting, smacking in the face - actually busted open my lip yesterday and some time ago knocked a tooth loose. And I know, he gets frustrated because he can't really communicate yet, but I'm kind of out of ideas on how to get him to stop abusing us, it's really getting out of control. I've tried just about every piece of advice I could find. Anyone else have this problem.... Or even better, a solution?

honestly I opened this thinking I did write it! I wish I knew how to resolve this, but unfortunately nothing has worked for me so far. I have an appt at the end of this month to see if my son qualifies for a speech therapy clinic but until then I'm just trying to teach him how to express himself without violence

Yep, I usually just walk away and let him throw his fit. He will get over it pretty quickly if I don't give attention to it.

Ugh my daughter is the same. She headbutts and screams and hits her head off things. It's so frustrating. She only says dada or mama currently. Ugh hang in there

Mine does the same things when she is angry I do my best to feel happy and joyful and play some birthday or happy songs on TV then we will sing and dance together or we start running around with the dog or a tasty treat I let her do the things she wants even though she makes a mess
