Not having a baby shower

Sooo... we were planning on having a shower. My sisters in law were gonna plan it. But the thing was we were still paying for it they were just planning it. Well me, my husband, our toddler, and 2 dogs and cat were moving this summer from California to Texas. We’re military and we’re PCS-ing. Well our family is from Texas which is great! But we’re moving to San Antonio and family is from Houston (3 1/2 hr drive away) we’re moving when I’m 31 weeks pregnant. Spending a crap ton on the move and getting settled in another state all while I’m insanely pregnant. Well I told my husbands family to cancel the shower before they started planning it. I just have so so much other stuff on my plate with this huge move that I didn’t see the point to add another stressful event on my plate at the end of my pregnancy. Especially since we’re paying for it. It made more sense for us to just buy what we need then spend money on food, decorations, cake, invitations, party favors, ect when we could just buy what we need to begin with. This is our second baby and it’s also a boy. Our first was a boy born in 2016 so we thankfully have some stuff left over from him. My thing is some of the smaller less expensive stuff we still need I’m ok with family and friends buying if they wanted. I’m not expecting it and not even necessarily hoping for it. I’d be happy and grateful if they wanted to bless the baby with a gift. Well I had made a small registry of things we needed before I cancelled the shower. Is it tacky to post it on fb for friends and family if they decided they wanted to get something. Or should I not do or say anything since we aren’t having a shower. I’d just hate for people to get stuff we don’t need or already have. If they’re going to spend their hard earned money I’d like it to be on stuff we really need, what’s the best way to go about this?
