How long have you been trying to conceive and when or will you see a fertility specialist if it doesn’t happen soon?

Just beware - once you go to an RE they want to test for everything under the sun. Be prepared to spend $$ and to be poked and prodded with limited answers until they get through every single test. Some tests for me don’t even seem relevant. At the end of the day they are  just a money making operation.

If you’re using OPKs and bbt to track and confirm ovulation and time intercourse perfectly (and have regular cycles), I’d go after six months. If you’re not doing all of that, I’d wait a full year before going to the doc. Charting showed me I had an issue with my cycle, so I went to the doc after four months TTC and was referred to an RE at 9 months.

I called after 6 months of trying with OPKs and about 10 months total. Had to wait about 2 months to be seen, so we crossed the one year mark. 
Insurance should cover if it’s been a year. Should also cover after 6 months if you’re over 35. If they don’t cover it, the appointment is about $300-500.
