Why would a ex do this?!

So me and this guy dated the end my senior year and a little through out college. But we fell on the out when I had some personal issues come up. Anyways he started dating someone and they got engaged and had 2 kids. I got married left town for 1 year and half then moved back. Cause I ended up getting divorced. I sent him a friend request when I moved back. He didn’t accept it till today which is 2 years later.

Also I work at a daycare and one of the kids here parents is friends with them.

The parents came into the daycare one and said I heard you used to date such and such a while back.

Is it just a coincidence that all this is happening in 2 years span? Why do you think my name was brought up? Or accepted the request just now?

My friend thinks he will message me eventually. 🤷🏽‍♀️
