Am I just being bit**y??

Question

So this morning my boyfriend and I get into a mini argument about how I want the baby in its own room once it’s past 2/3 months.... He doesn’t.... he wants it to stay in our room until around 6/7 months... I think that is WAY too long honestly. I hate that! I want my baby to sleep on its own so it can start sleeping through the night all the time without knowing mommy and daddy are right there.... It just makes me so annoyed that he wants to do that. I’ve nannied and been around kids since I was 13. He has no idea about children. It just makes me want to punch him in the throat... what do you guys think? Please help! Because it’s really bugging me.

The American Academy of Pediatrics actually recommends that babies sleep in a separate space (crib, bassinet, or pack n play) in the parents room for at least 6 months but preferably up to a year. Room sharing reduces the risk for SIDS & also helps with breastfeeding & milk supply.
That being said, you two just have different preferences. Come to an agreement of what will work best for you all as a family. We only kept our baby in our room until 6 weeks and then started him in his crib in his own room with a video & sound monitor. We had various reasons for our choice and it's worked well for our family. But every family is different.

Is your baby born yet? My sil had been very adamant on the way she was going to go about things with her first and all that went out the window once he was here. I say don't stress it if baby's not here yet and to just roll with the punches as they come along maybe your bf will have a different mind set once baby is here and he sees how it really is.

My baby slept in her bassinet in our room until she was sleeping through the night, mostly because our room is downstairs and hers is upstairs, and there was no way I was making that trip every time she woke up and wanted to nurse. Much easier to lean over the side of the bed and pick her up. 
She was about five months old when we made the transition. It honestly helped us all sleep better. I’m a big fan of doing what works for you! And I’ve learned that what works isn’t always what you expect to work. Babies love to throw you curve balls. With communication and respect for each other, you’ll figure it out as a family when the time comes! ❤️

I was so confused as to why you kept referring to the baby as "it" instead of he/she or baby until I realized baby isn't here yet. 🤣 
Like some of the other comments have said the AAP suggests at least 6 months to a year in the same room (their own sleep space) with parents. So I see your boyfriend's point. 
Once baby is here you'll see baby's sleep patterns and be able to decide from there. Our son went to his room at 3 months but came back into ours at 5 months with the sleep regression. Our daughter didn't go to her room until almost 6 months. You still have time to discuss it, I wouldn't get worked up about it. Also, I wouldn't say anything about him not knowing children or what not to his face. I've never actually said it but have kind of made it seem like that's what I meant and it has hurt my husband's feelings. (Not saying you do/will just a little advice.) You're not always going to agree on how/what to do when it comes to baby and that's okay. You just have to stay calm and come to a solution together, as a team. Good luck!

This baby isnt like those other ones you've been around. This baby is YOUR BABY.

You'll feel differently about this one then the others because its literally a piece of you and him. 
Try not to argue over these things, honestly just take it one step at a time and see how it feels. You may never want this baby to sleep in their own room! Who knows. <3

This is a decision you honestly can't even make in advance. You both need to see how you feel once baby is here & reaches those ages. It's all very well to think about what you hypothetically would or wouldn't want, but as first-time parents, you're not going to truly have a good sense of it in advance.

Trust me after a few times getting up walking to their room you will bring the baby in your room to sleep. I got lazy after constantly up and down ever few hours

I mean I think a calm cool collected conversation should be had. My kids and I shared the space until 6 months then they went to their own rooms. Mostly because the middle of the night I was too lazy to walk to a different part of the house. But at 6 months I also started sleep training techniques. It is nice to have your own space but at 3 months no baby is going to be sleeping soundly through the night.
