Am I wrong to be upset?

I have a couple of pimples on my face and if I’m being honest they don’t bother me because I’m a teen and all of my friends have them. But my mum hates them. She keeps bugging me about using make-up to cover them and going to a dermatologist. She says it takes away from my “beauty”. I know that she’s only doing this because she cares but I don’t think that my pimples should really bother her. I’m 15 btw.

No offence, but I think your mum is being rude. It sounds like she thinks you’re ugly with spots. They’re completely natural. She can’t tell you what to do to your body. You do what you like. It’s not her body, so she has no right to tell you what and what not to do with it

Meant to press no but my finger slipped. But seriously, your mother should not be pressuring you into covering your pimples. Everyone gets them at some point, especially during teenage years. A few pimples don't take anyone's beauty away!
Also, covering zits with makeup can even worsen them so it's usually the best to leave them uncovered anyway.

No youre not wrong. Its your body. HOWEVER if i were you i would take her advice and see the dermatologist ONLY because they can give you some helpful tips and a good skincare regimen ( Speaking as an aesthetician) which at your age would be preventative care so all youre doing is skincare maintenance when you get older.

I could see how that upsets you but maybe she's just trying to look out for you and knows how cruel people can be but if you're okay with it then just brush it off and just take it as motherly criticism... sometimes my mom criticizes me that I don't get all dressed up or wear makeup but I love who I am and I'm comfortable therefore she respect that but she'll always give me her input I just take it with a grain of salt

Your mother is shallow. If she doesn’t believe you have more to offer than just your looks and a few pimples will define you, your life, and what you’re capable of doing, she needs to be a better, mother and focus her concerns on things that can actually make or break a 15 year old. Wear makeup to cover it up? Dude what? I’m every bit of 28 years old and I still have acne unfortunately. I refuse to wear makeup just to cover blemishes. I wear it because it’s fun, but I will equally not wear it because I don’t feel like it.

My mom regrets doing this to me when I was your age. She didn't want people to bully me, but all is good now ✌ my mom wanted me to try a dozen things and I told her I wasn't interested but I'd try one if it would get her to stop, and she agreed. Worked for us. GL to you

My mom did the same thing, took me to a makeup lady and grabbed my chin and said "look at her face, what can you do?" When I hadn't even cared that much about them.
