Ladies who have already given birth:
How did you know it was go time? Especially FTM who didn’t really know what to expect? Ive been having contractions the last 2 hours (at least I think.. feel like really bad cramps all the way up my uterus,) keep peeing way more than normal, projectile vomited twice, and keep feeling like I have to poop.. but I can’t.

Time them. When they’re every 5 minutes apart head in. Stop trying to poop.

My midwife said to follow the 5-1-1 rule. Contractions 5 minutes apart, lasting 1 minute (though mine were shorter), lasting an hour. Then you can go to the hospital

Time them. I knew I had contractions but I had a hard time identifying them as I was having bad gas pains and diarrhea as well.
When I left to be checked I suddenly notice how close they were. I got in and was 8 cm open 😅
I knew I had contractions that morning and told my boyfriend to forget leaving that day. But I didn't expect it to go that fast. I had a hard time figuring out my body to be honest.

I wasn’t sure what I was supposed to feel as a “contraction” and people would just say “oh you’ll know when you’re having them” which wasn’t helpful. So I hope that explaining HOW they felt to me will help you. It felt like when your calf muscle balls up all tight and it’s stuck for a while... except only from both sides of your belly inward. 
In my case my water broke so I went to the hospital so I never had to do the 5-1-1 count with contractions. Hope that helps!
