High blood pressure & pulse ?

I know NOTHING about blood pressure and I’ve always had a 125/60 blood pressure range but tonight I’ve been feeling really off so I took it with my grandmothers home blood pressure machine and it says 146/96 and my pulse is 140 . Is that bad ?

Update :: yes 144 was my resting heart rate laying on the couch watching tv . But I went into L&D and they were able to get them both down within an hour , basically I’ve been in prodromal labor for days and the pain is causing my bp & heart rate to be elevated & everything is having to work harder due to the stress being put on my body 😔. I’ve been scheduled to be induced May 29th , so hopefully I can handle it one more week ! Also baby was just fine , there was no distress . I’m just going to try & take it as easy as possible for the rest of the time I have left .

196 is the normal max heart rate, as in what to expect when you’re exercising. No ones resting heart rate should go above 100. Pregnancy speeds that up a little, but nothing above 110 is normal. I’m pretty sure she was referring to her resting heart rate being 140 and that’s definitely not normal.

Pulse is not concerning, I actually had this issue where my heart rate would stay around 150 for HOURS. My doctor referred me to a cardiologist. They had me use a holter monitor for a few days for the cardiologist to tell me that how they base heart rates is 220 minus your age so for me the highest my heart rate can get is 196 before its concerning. Pregnancy your heart rate will elevate with palpitations, very common in pregnancy but always always let your doctor know.

Your blood pressure is slightly concerning but your pulse is very concerning. Assuming you didn’t take these after walking up a flight of stairs or something. If your resting pulse is greater than 110 of your resting BP is greater than 140 its time to go in. I went in for high blood pressure last week too. It’s concerning for preeclampsia. Mine ended up coming down and everything was fine but I’m glad I didn’t take the risk.

Whenever my heart rate is high my doctor always ask if I've been staying hydrated. Drink a big cup of water, lay of your left side, get up, take it again with your feet flat on the floor. If it's still high call! I've been high risk this entire pregnancy cause of high blood pressure that I've had since I was 15 years old. Stay calm, even thinking of a stressful situation will make your blood pressure high.
