implant adjustment

I got my implant placed last year in May. Shouldn’t it be regulated by now? But my period was all spotting for three months until it started regulating but with just spotting as period for about four months. And then in January I stopped getting my period for about three months until I spotted for two weeks straight in April. Now I am waiting for my period to begin again, but I am confused. Has anyone else experienced this too, or should I try a different birth control method?
