Why do husbands cheat

Question

I guess I’m just looking for closure. But does anyone have any ideas on why a husband would cheat on their pregnant wife? I’m still in shock and can’t believe it. I just don’t understand. I’ve been up all night with a million thoughts trying to figure out what I did wrong.

My husband cheated on me when I was pregnant with our son and when I was pregnant with our daughter. The first time it was emotional cheating where they were planning on running away together. The second time he slept with my friend. Both married women with kids btw.. 
First time he cheated, I forgave him. Second time it destroyed me. I knew our marriage was over the second time. I was pretty inconsolable the first 3 months after it happened. I’m still going through all of the stages of grief. But now I don’t hardly ever cry. I’m just more bitterly depressed lol. 
I do have a point with all of this.. I was so stressed out from what happened that it impacted my pregnancy negatively. I started dilating early and had to be sent to a hospital 3 1/2 hours from where I lived. I could only see my son once every 2 weeks. I was there for 6 weeks before they agreed to let me go home at 32 weeks. I. Was. Miserable. But that time was also good for me because I got to watch a TON of videos on why men cheat. 
Everyone has their own theory on why men cheat. I watched TedTalks, Oprah, Dr. Phil, relationship experts, Steve Harvey, etc. I read article after article. Then I heard something that made sense to me and was actually something I could accept... When we get married it’s because we are willing to make a life long bet that we found the “one.” Our other half, our soulmate, our life long partner. No one would get married to someone if we knew it wouldn’t work out and that person wasn’t for us. 
There are some people who are so lucky and found their one. Unfortunately there are others like us and our partners who didn’t. Our partners didn’t realize that we weren’t their “one.” Even if they are our “one.” It does not mean that we are theirs. From what this man explained, men will stop the games, the cheating, whatever, for the right woman. For his one. He won’t even feel the need to cheat on her because he could never afford or risk to lose her. That’s how precious she will be to him. 
Not saying we are not precious, because we are, but we’re just simply not his one. Our true one is out their waiting for us. And things will be a lot smoother in our relationship when we meet him. Because our one will never risk cheating on us because he simply can’t afford to lose us. We made a wrong bet on who our one is and lost. Which a lot of people do. 
Does this excuse our partners cheating? Absolutely not. But this was something I found that I could accept for an answer. If you knew your partner was wrong for you, you would have never gotten married or had their kids. Imagine being married to the wrong one and the right one comes along. Or even a version close enough to the “one.” Your eyes would probably wander and I’m sure you would want to pursue a relationship with them. It does not justify cheating but it does provide an explanation of sorts. At least for me it did. 😅

Mines did the same thing....
We were very distant first and half of second trimester, not an excuse. It happend I was shocked as well and still dealing with those feelings from time to time. Sometimes, there is no reason...

There are a lot of reasons why people cheat but it has NOTHING to do with their partner. Stop trying to determine what you did wrong (because it’s not a reflection of you) and figure out how to move forward without him.

You did nothing wrong. People cheat because people sometimes make bad choices that have nothing to do with anything other than their own bad decision making process.

I’m wondering the same thing. I know my husband is cheating on me emotionally and maybe even physically. It is tearing me apart but I don’t know what to do to fix it. Can I trust him again? I feel like I have no one to turn to to talk about how I am feeling and what I should do.

It’s definitely him. If you want to know why you’ll have to ask him unfortunately. Sometimes though it’s something even he doesn’t have the answer to. It can get pretty deep for why sometimes too. He needs therapy
