Do you think having a short but polite list of rules for visiting baby is rude and will you be doing it?

This is my list for reference...
Rules for visiting baby:
- Please only come if you have been invited, and notify us prior to visiting
- Please do not come if you are feeling at all under the weather, are recovering from an illness, or have been around someone who is ill
- Please wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water!
- Please do not kiss baby 
- Please leave children at home
- Please do not share photos on social media without permission from mom and dad

I may or may not have told my family they can’t come to the hospital because of the measles outbreaks and they have a strict visitors policy this time around 😬

I just stated my rules as needed, and plan to do the same this time. Most of the people in my life didn’t need reminders, but I made hand sanitizer very obvious and available and anyone that asked to come was asked not to if they felt they could be sick at all. I would assume everyone visiting has the best intentions and just give a gentle reminder if necessary. 
I did have some guests overstay their welcome so I eventually just took baby and went into another room and let my husband entertain.

Totally agree with all of these, however expect some people to roll eyes if you send out an official list. We are just going to take it as they come. So basically tell them no to visiting in hospital unless it’s very close friends or family. Wash hands when you get there. Everyone we would have visit I trust knows they need to not be sick. We will allow kids to come visit but I probably won’t let the little ones touch baby like at all 😊

I don’t think any of these are unreasonable. No one in our families will come to visit until we get home and tell them they are welcome so we don’t really have any rules. It’s nice to have as much time as we want to get settled before people come. Usually my in laws come first because they are in town and my mil brings several meals so I don’t have to worry about cooking for awhile. My sister will come after a day or two depending on her work schedule and will clean the house/do dishes and laundry. They are helpful and not invasive which is great and don’t ever stay too long for the first few weeks. Having that time alone in the hospital to bond and really focus on nursing and getting to know your munchkin while you have the nurses to help is so nice. When you have people visiting all day it can get overwhelming and you can forget to ask questions or miss little things because other people have baby. It can be stressful for baby too since they went from warm and cozy in your tummy to bright lights and noise and being passed around to all of these people. I understand that everyone wants to come see baby right away but I’m all for telling them to be patient for a little while longer.

Mine is very similar, only I added about smoke and perfume smell to wait to handle/touch baby until a gown (hospitals will give you the isolation gown) is worn or a change of clean closes. My list is written though if it was coming from my newborn, so it sounds better as there are reasons behind the requests.

This is my baby and my birthing process. Idgaf what ANYONE else thinks. If they want to see her, they’ll follow my rules for visiting. Luckily, my fiancé agrees and is on board with my wishes.
