Are pacifiers necessary?

So I see a decent amount of posts about giving babies pacifiers. Or how to get babies to use them.

Are they really needed? I know every baby is different and some may want to suck more to be happy.

I didn't give my little lady one till maybe 2 months ( I felt that if she was hungry and sucking on the pacifier it would like trick her into thinking she was "feeding" but she would still be hungry, probably me just being overly cautious 😅) Anywho! By then she had no interest. (didn't even suck her thumb)

I didn't force it because I thought it would save me from trying to stop her from using it as she got older.

11 months later and definitely happy she doesn't use one. Maybe she's just a "chill" baby 🤷

Just wanted to hear your thoughts on it!
