How to handle (not) sharing the news?

Question

I’m 6 weeks and my first ultrasound is not until Jun 13. On Jun 14, I’m flying out to my cousin’s baby shower. My lovely family is very nosy and I’m certain they will figure out what’s going on when I pass on champagne and soft cheeses, especially with baby vibes in the air. It will be cousins and aunts and uncles... my folks won’t be there. 
I wouldn’t mind confessing except that I’m 37 and this is my first pregnancy... so I wanted to wait to tell our parents until at least after the ultrasound just in case. We also don’t live nearby and it’s Father’s Day weekend, so we wanted to mail them a cute gift announcement to make it feel special. 
I don’t want other family to find out before our parents, and don’t want to steal my cousin’s thunder either! (Though I confess one reason I’m going is for all the Big Aunt Energy... my mom died when I was 19 and these are her sisters.... I’m also an only child. So this is my closest female family and I need some of that right now!)
TL;DR how will I get through this lol???

Tell them you're on a diet and really trying to stick to it. Thats what i've been telling people. Though i started losing weight 3 months before i got pregnant and lost 20 lbs but now im just maintaining the weight because baby lol im having to tell my MIL that i've hit a plateau in my weightloss but that im gaining muscle and losing inches 🤣🤣 its not technically lying for me because that is actually true but still

I’m in the same boat.  Im also in my later 30s (36) and wanted to wait until the family beach vacation to announce - I’ll be 12 weeks then and that’s close enough🤪.  However I’ll be going home for Father’s Day and I’m never one to pass up wine🙄ugh if only I’d been less predictable when it comes to alcohol.  Right now my plan is  to say I drank too much the night  before and/or haven’t been feeling well. Not sure how else to get out of it 😩.

Feel your pain!! We won’t be sharing our lovely news until 21/6 as that’s when all our family will be together... and we’d like to do it in one go! Then after our EDD we’ll share with the world 🤣 best of luck love xx x

I feel you.  We had March 22nd and we are pregnant now but my appt not until June 17th ugh the wait!!

Do they know your TTC. Just say your laying off the booze until the good lord bless you. Or bring alcohol free beer and put the bottle in a cozy, but if their really noisy that may not work. I also like the diet idea, say your doing it in solidarity with a co-worker or friend and your staying true to the honor system because someone will have to pay up.
