Busy anesthesiologist + rapid labor = unmedicated birth🙄

Ti

My baby girl is here! After an ECV (external cephalic version: when the OB or midwife rotates a breech baby from the outside) on Monday, I was scheduled from induction Thursday may 23rd. I asked to be induced with the cervadil vaginal suppository to get my cervix ready before starting pitocin because the cervadil was enough to start my last labor. Well it did it again! I was having regular, strong contractions with back pain within 4 hours. At 0630 Friday morning I was in excruciating pain and asked the nurse to check me and to remove the cervadil. She checked me and said I was only at 2cm 😑😑. I told her I'd like the epidural at this point and she gave me 2 heat packs for my back.

She called the anesthesiologist and returned to tell me he was in a procedure that he couldn't leave but was aware I wanted the epidural. The plan was to get the epidural and start pitocin at 8am. I sat in the shower, changed positions, sat, stood, laid, all fours, anything I could to handle the pain. I told my nurse I wasn't having any breaks between contractions! I was irritable, restless, vomiting, basically showing all the signs of a woman about to deliver. At around 9 o clock I was standing beside my bed rocking side to side and felt another contraction coming so I laid down. My baby started her exit! My body just started pushing her out! I told my husband, "I have to push, she's coming!" My husband said "what do I do?!" "Go get somebodyyyyyyyy!". He ran into the hall and got my nurse and she came in and felt her head and yelled for help! The whole unit ran into my room and her head was out before anyone could even get gloves on. Next thing I knew she was out! I didn't even push! She's perfectly healthy and beautiful. And I am so amazed by her entrance into the world.
