cold sores?

do any of you mamas get cold sores? what do you do to protect the baby from it besides no kissing and washing your hands? i’ve never had a cold sore before but the past two days right under my bottom lip has felt super itchy, and is red. im scared this is a sign i might be getting one. i want to do everything i can to protect my baby from it because i know it can be fatal to babies. he is 11 weeks old. please let me know. thank you!

I just got over one and I also had one when she was born. The doctor gave me a prescribed cream to apply and a tablet to take. This time I used only the cream as soon as I felt it coming and it cleared up in about 10 days: I just keep my face away from her as much as possible and constantly wash my hands.

I get cold sores alllll the time since I was a teenager, found out they are triggered by stress. Haven't had any since my daughter was born. I tried just about every medication there was for them and found that carmex works amazing. It's super cheap, doesnt taste or smell bad, and goes on like regular chap stick

Ugh, I do. I just got over one and I was freaking  out everyday for a week. There is really nothing you can do but treat it as normal. My doctor gave me the generic of valtrex, so that and coconut oil really helped to speed it along. 
I just made sure to wash my hands like crazy and I kept my face as far away from him as I could during feedings. Hang in there.
