How are you disciplining your toddler?

My toddler listens pretty well but when it’s time for bed/naps he throws a tantrum and goes limp like he can’t walk to bed. 
Normally when he doesn’t listen we put him in time out but I feel like when it’s bed time he wouldn’t care about timeout because he’s just getting out of going to bed? 
Also he is very very picky and we are working on getting him to eat more variety of foods, what do you do when they won’t eat?? I don’t want him to starve. Today he wouldn’t eat his lunch so he had to take a nap with no lunch.
Help! What would you do in these situations?

Have you thought that maybe the nap tantrum is because they aren’t tired? It’s a super common age for nap time to stop. Maybe if you skip nap then they will go down easy at the end of the night because they’re so tired.

I have a big household full of boys. So for all our children they get told 10 times, then they have to "sit out" on a chair for five minutes, smack on the hand with our last straw. When my son (2yo) would get out of bed I'd just put him back in and eventually he quit getting out of bed. And when it comes to dinner I've made what I've made, don't like it don't eat tonight🤷 how I was raised and it worked great so I'm doing it.

My daughter crush every single time we put her down for bed. We put her in and shut the door. She cry’s and bangs on the door but usually puts herself back in after 10-15 mins. When we started it was a screaming tantrum for over and hour. We still respond when she wakes and cry’s but we just go in tuck her in and back out.

They’re too little to learn from time out. They definitely need to burn a ton of energy. Make sure he has enough activity during the day. And have the same night time routine so he knows it’s time to wind down. All electronics should be off at least an hour before bed to allow the brain to slow down and get ready for sleep. Toddlers are grazers. They dont usually eat a full meal but smaller ones here and there.

Reading “no drama discipline” by Daniel Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson was pretty life changing for me. Highly recommended! I read it before baby was in the needing discipline age but it really helped me learn a more effective and mutually respectful way of handling things. I highly recommend it! I’ve read it once and listened to the audiobook twice to really cement the strategies into my brain haha.

Mine does the exact same both food and nap and sleep. Iv pushed his bed time 20 mins later and nap 30 mins so instead of 11 nap he goes down 1130ish even 12 then bed time has been moved to 8. I still get the tantrums but he eventually just walks upstairs semi crying lol and falls asleep 15 mins later. 
As for the food I serve what I would like him to eat and if he doesn’t eat he can leave it and if he is really hungry he will eat it. I find at school he eats all the food they serve but if I make it he won’t touch it so it’s not that he doesn’t like it it that I have let him obviously get away with it. Their stomachs aren’t huge so they won’t starv and will definitely eat when they get hungry

My little does this as well. I allow her to throw her tantrum and as soon as she is up, off to bed we go. As for food, I always serve a variety with each meal, a dairy, a meat or protein, a card, a fruit, and a veggie. I firmly believe the variety has led her to enjoy the huge variety of foods she does.
