How do i keep my baby from getting sunburned?

Im going to socal in less than 2 weeks with my LO (5 months) she will be too young for sunscreen. I was thinking uv protection clothing but i feel like the long sleeves will make her too hot. How do i keep her cool and keep the sun off her? (Oregonian here lol i never have to deal with this!)

Keep her in the shade, dress in longbreathable clothes, wide brimmed hat and sunglasses.

I’ve never heard of a baby being too young for sunscreen. I use Babyganics sunscreen that is non toxic. You do not want a sunburnt baby I highly suggest using this sunscreen along with the UV clothing, hat and shade 😊

So most sunscreen bottles, even the more natural baby sunscreens, say not to use under 6 months, or to consult a doctor for use under 6 months, or something along those lines. 
However the AAP does recommend using small amounts of sunscreen on babies under 6 months for the areas that can’t be covered in cases when sun exposure is unavoidable. The sun poses a greater risk than the sunscreen does. It’s also recommended that you test sunscreen on a small section of baby's skin and watch for a reaction if you're trying it for the first time. 
Besides sunburn you want to be careful of baby overheating, so avoid peak hours in the sun, and limit time overall.

Never heard that babies are too young for sun cream, IMO I think sun cream would be less harmful than the actual sun. 
My daughter used baby sun lotion from approx 5-6 months with a UV protection swim suit and hat.

Too young for sunscreen? Never heard that before. I'd use sun protection, babies can burn in the shade too just like us. If you are worried about chemicals buy an organic sunscreen. There are lots of good brands out there.

My doctor told me she would rather the baby have sunscreen on before 6mo than get a sunburn. She said just to wash it off when you get done in the sun and also try to keep the baby shaded the best you can.
