Contractions-how can you tell?

I am a FTM, and I am 39 weeks pregnant.
I don’t have any sign of labor at all and I am scared that maybe I won’t recognize contractions or early labour signs. I do sometimes get BH, but they happen usually after I have been walking for awhile or sitting for awhile, but even those aren’t that often.
Can you describe your contractions and some signs before you actually gone into labour?

You’ll know don’t worry! Took a few days of the horrible pains before I had my son 😭 starts off with cramps but just gets increasingly worse so you’ll know haha then lost the mucus plug and waters started leaking here and there! All the while contractions would come and go, instant relief between them :)

With my son, mine woke me up from a dead sleep at like 5am. I had been having BH and this one hurt enough to wake me up. It felt like a mix between a period cramp, and a cramp from gastrointestinal distress (like I was gonna have diarrhea, without the need to poop urge). And it will feel like a wave, you’ll feel a build up to the pain and then it will come down. That’s the best way I can explain it lol

Contractions that just get worse with time. And closer together. And are lasting longer. Dw about being able to tell if you’re contracting , you will DEFINITELY know. It’s more of when to go to the hospital that is always the hard part
