Birth control.

So back in November I got put on birth control (the pill) and I took it for only 5 days because I wasn’t informed of all the side effects. I was told to take it the first day of my period and my period lasted weeks. I had no idea about breakthrough bleeding and when I started to ask around,people started telling me horror stories and saying how it’s not good for your body. I want to give it another try. I got about 3 months worth of birth control. How can I go about starting it back up? Or should I try another method. This is all kinda new to me. Should I try a different one? Do all forms of birth control cause bleeding?
