Anyone with student loans help?

Fiancé and I are getting married this year, I’m finishing up school next year. I’ve never done taxes as I’ve never worked, I’ve been a student, while he works. Every year we count on his tax refund (usually 5-6K) to help us. Someone told me since I’m marrying him my student loans will be taken out of his taxes and we’ll get less. Is this true? My monthly payment is supposed to be less than $100 a month.

If you’re paying the monthly payments on time, no. If you stop paying them, they’ll take them out of the taxes.

I do our taxes each year. As long as you don’t fall behind, they will not take it out of your taxes. The interest the loans collect over the year (up to a certain amount) is called a deduction which means it lowers the amount of income on which you get taxed. In the end it helps your refund.

As long as you’re making payments they won’t be taken out. However if you default then yes they can take them out of his taxes IF you file jointly.

I have been filing with my husband since we've been married. They have never taken anything out of our taxes for my student loans. I pay monthly towards my loans. As long as I continue and don't get behind they won't touch the loans.
