First Prenatal Appointment- did your partner go with you?

Trying to figure out if it’s worth it for him to go to this one!

I schedule my appts for when my partner is off of work. I don’t drive so he’s at almost every appt. he also likes being there and asks questions that I didn’t think of or forgot about.

There was so much information at my first midwife appt, and I'm so glad my husband was there because he took all her recommendations for me so seriously. Not that I didn't, I'm just so tired that I'm less motivated, and he immediately got all the supplements she recommended and reminds me of all the other things she said. His schedule is more flexible than mine though, so we hadn't considered him not joining me. If your partner can't make it, is there someone else who could join you?

It concerns his child so I think he should come to every appointment. My husband is always there with me, it's a journey you take on together.

I haven’t had my first appointment yet. I scheduled it to be right around my 10 week mark. At my office they do an intake and new OB appt at the same time, so they will do an ultrasound. These appointments are scheduled for 1 1/2 hours. My husband is going to this appointment and the anatomy ultrasound, other appointments probably not. He has a pretty demanding job.

With my first prenatal appointment, he did come with me just because he wanted to be there for me and learnt about when our baby will be due. After that, no but for the ultrasound appointments, that was extremely important to him and he showed up for that every time, that’s all.

Is the first appointment not an ultrasound? Or does it depend on your doctor?

If it’s an ultrasound yes. My husband didn’t go to my first appt because I thought it was just a patient intake appt. they did an ultrasound and if I knew that, he would’ve went. So maybe call and ask if they do an ultrasound? To any other appts, he doesn’t come because they just do quick run through of how I’m feeling, check baby’s heartbeat and growth. The next appt he’s coming to is another ultrasound (20 week scan). He won’t be coming to any others after that until delivery.

My hubby worries too much and I can’t handle it sometimes. We agreed that he would drive me to appointments when I’m bigger and he’ll come to the ultrasound where we find out the gender.

My husband went to them all with our first. He hasn’t been to any with this one because of location and work. And I wish he was at these appointments because they’re getting stressful with this pregnancy.
