Period a week early?

I started birth control last month so this is my second month taking it. My period isn’t due till June 6 but I’ve been bleeding (heavier than spotting similar to a light flow) since May 30. I didn’t know if this was because I just started birth control or if I should be concerned. When I first started bleeding it was dark brown like old blood but now it’s become a normal red color of a period so should I consider this my period?
