Is your tot in a crib or a big kid bed?

Question

Hi! I feel like I’m getting a lot of pressure to move my son out of his crib and in a normal bed, but I just don’t see the need.. My son is a super all over the place sleeper and a regular bed just sounds like a concussion waiting to happen lol. Plus I love that he’s “trapped” in the crib and can’t go roaming the house without me knowing. What are y’all doing and how’s it going?

I only switched because my son was climbing out. He as done surprisingly well with the transition. We converted his crib to a daybed and got a guard rail. The one we got is by munchkin and there is just enough space for him to climb in and out on each end. Also folds really easily.

We got our daughter a Montessori style floor bed for Christmas. I will be honest though, we have placed a lock on her door so she can’t room around at night. After a week of finding her in the pantry at 3am we had to do something to keep her contained and safe.

My son was loving his crib but we just decided it was time I guess. We felt pressure from family saying he was too big for a crib even though i thought he was fine in his crib. He never tried to escape and slept really good in it. 
We took the wall down and he’s still doing just as good, he hasn’t gotten out of it yet or even tried to leave his room when he wakes up. He won’t even leave his bed when he wakes up. He has fallen out a few times but we have a bunch of blankets under it so it doesn’t bug him, he just keeps sleeping.

If he's fine in the crib then use it until you feel like he's ready.

Our son is still in his crib...in our room 😖. With my now 6 month old daughter. She is in her pack n play and he is in his crib. We will be moving him to a toddler bed when we move him to the other bedroom. But that won't be for awhile. You do what's most comfortable for you and your family. Never let someone pressure you, that's how i got some of my biggest regrets 😔. Good luck hunny.

My girl still loves her crib and I have to strongly encourage get everyday morning and afternoon after nap to get out! She just wants to play with her toys and talk to me when she wakes up. She doesn't try to climb out or anything so she is safe in there. I don't feel a need to move her yet! Nor long forward to the possibility of her roaming around. I'll probably start thinking of doing the big bed at 3.

I only moved my son cause when I moved in with my boyfriend I couldn’t get the crib apart at that point. My boyfriend had a toddler bed he bought in a past relationship just needed a mattress. So I switched my son over at 15 months. He didn’t care much for it until I let him pick out his own bedding for it. He knew when he got that it went on the big boy bed and he’s slept in it ever since

I only switched the crib to a “big boy bed” (just took the front off the convertible crib and put a gate on) this week bc I’m 6 months pregnant and was having trouble gettin thin in and out.  Otherwise embargoed would have stayed longer.

Mine is still in a crib and will be until she climbs out. Her pediatrician said there's no need to rush to a big kid bed
