I had my baby 6 days ago and saw this white spot on iris. At first we thought it was gunk but after looking more closely it's not. Saw the pedi for his newborn check up and she wants us to go to a pedi ophthalmologist. Has anyone's else baby had this?

I actually had a friend who had something very similar looking. They just left it, as trying to remove it had a fairly high risk of damaging his eye. Basically, they said it wasn’t the ‘norm,’ and monitored it every year to make sure it didn’t get bigger, but it didn’t impact him in any meaningful way. Unfortunately, I don’t know what his was called, but I hope it’s nothing that you guys need to stress over. 💜

Looks like a corneal ulcer which would need to be treated immediately.

Just try not to touch the eye and keep baby from rubbing it as well. It could be something that got lodged in the eye. Good luck.

My niece has something that looks similar to this. She has hair in her eye & astigmatism (idk if I spelled that right). She is 13 and she can see perfectly out of the eye.
