Anyone else worried about the flu/sicknesses?

Since our babies will be born in the prime sick season, what are all you ladies doing to prepare? I'm nervous because I'm a first grade teacher so I literally work in a germ box.

I’m terrified. A woman in another group I’m in had a baby December 2018 who ended up getting hib (Haemophilus influenzae type b) which is I believe part of the 8 week vaccines but he was less than 8 weeks old. He was in the hospital all hooked up to machines and they were seriously worried he wasn’t going to survive and I think he might have some ongoing health issues from it as well. It’s super rare, but with anti-vax being the way that it is and measles and all that outbreaking all over the place, I’m probably quarantining my family until at least baby gets his 8 week shots. We’ll bundle up and take walks outside to get out of the house but I’m not touching one single shopping cart until probably March. 
One good thing is supposedly some of the immunity from your flu shot may transfer over your placenta to baby, so make sure you get one once flu season comes around! That and a TDAP  during your third trimester can help baby avoid pertussis/whooping cough.

I have also been worrying about this as my fiancé and I are getting married in February and it will be the first time a lot of our friends and family will be meeting our little one. I am thinking of putting sanitizer on every table just in case! FTM here so I can’t be too safe! I was also thinking to wear a wrap and keep the baby on me most of the time so I can have a little more control over who is touching and holding our little one.

I’m nursing so I’m not too worried. My son wasn’t sick until about 6 months when we started giving him food. Even than it was very mild. I know it’s not the end all but it worked for us.

My last baby was due in December too. Honestly I did not go out Christmas shopping I ordered a lot of gifts. I asked anyone who who would be around him to get a flu shot first. We also have huge family get together on Christmas Eve I'm talking 50 + people, we did not go that year. Especially since our baby ended up being in the NICU. But honestly even if this baby doesn't go in the NICU I don't think we are going to go to that party just being around that many people when baby is so young gives me anxiety. Plus I know everyone would want to hold him and he would end up getting passed around which I'm not cool with when they are that young.
So honestly, just making sure anyone who wanted to hold him had the flu shot was feeling 100% okay and washed their hands.

I  am definitely nervous as I have a 3yr old... who brings home everything from daycare! When she was a baby (she was born in Feb), we wouldn’t allow anyone over who even had a cold... and anyone who did come over must wash their hands and no kissing baby. My daughter was a preemie, so we stayed home for awhile as well.

I had my daughter in December years ago when the flu was really bad. We didn’t do anything crazy like keep her in hiding. I’d say just make sure anyone who is sick stays home.

When I had my son, it was in March and they had flu shot fliers everywhere in the hospital. It said no one without one and who is sick were not allowed on the floor. It was nice. I’m hoping my family and friends will be mindful of it when wanting to see the baby. I don’t think I’m going to be going anywhere crazy like Christmas shopping with her/him. 😂😂
