Did your insurance cover fertility treatments

Question

If so, what kind of insurance do you have?
If not, how did you pay for it?
I had called OB office to set up an appointment due to it being close to a year of trying. The lady told me that most insurances do not cover treatments & to call my insurance to verify. 
I called my insurance and they verified they do not cover fertility treatments.
I don’t understand & now am completely frustrated and devastated.

What sort of treatments are you referring to? My insurance does not cover IVF at all. But the sperm analysis, hsg, bloodwork, went to deductible. And the IUI was covered i think it was a couple hundred dollars overall for everything

When I called Florida Blue, they said some things were covered and some weren’t. My HSG for example was not covered because it was considered diagnostic.  We were going to go forward with IUI and my insurance was going to cover almost all of that for some reason.  I’d look into costs, and just ask your ob for the codes to check with your insurance about specific things.

I’m in WI and our insurance covered nothing. We found a fertility specialist who recognized insurance doesn’t cover it and does all of the testing and procedures at reduced rate. She herself had done multiple rounds of IVF and got. We did the steps as we could afford them. We are extremely fortunate in that we got pregnant with our daughter after 5 IUI’s and she is currently 17 months and I’m 11w4d pregnant with number 2 after 4 rounds of IUI. There are also companies who do loans with lower interest rates specifically for fertility treatments.

I’m in MN and thankfully work for a school district that covers my infertility (IUI) 100%. But it does not cover the IVF procedure. It does cover all of the meds, testing, and ultrasounds
