IvF with PGS or not?

Hi ladies, I started birth control pills yesterday to prepare me for IVF. I will be doing a frozen IVF but undecided regarding doing PGS or not. I would like your feedback regarding PGS. Did you have success? Do you recommend it or not? Thank you

I did pgs because I had poor egg quality and didn’t want to transfer abnormal embryos. The 2 embryos of mine that were abnormal had too many chromosomes .. so I’m glad I did it.

We did the PGS because I make adnormal embryos. After the test we had one that was normal and one was adnormal. I would recommend it but recently I heard that when they test them they take some cells away which could make it weak. Thats the part Im hung up on for our next time. I mean we have to do it but I dont want to harm it.

100% so the pgs testing. It’s an up front cost but can save you a lot of money and heart break in the long run. I tested 10 5/6 day blasts that all “looked amazing” by the embryologist. 3 of the highest rated ones were abnormal. These probably would have been the three they would have tried first for transfers.
I’ll be honest, my first transfer still failed. Never implanted at all and my dr thinks it didn’t survive the thaw. My second (6 day blast-aa) stuck and now I’m 22 weeks today.

I had 9 embryos. Out of those 9, 4 were abnormal and 5 were normal. I’m so thankful that I did the testing because if I hadn’t, I could have potentially had up to 4 rounds not work due to abnormalities and I cannot even imagine how painful that would have been. Just because they’re PGS tested doesn’t mean it’s a guarantee to work, but it does give you a higher chance.

I’m 32, have unexplained fertility, ovarian reserve is normal, very healthy sperm and I have never been pregnant. I originally planned for PGS testing but once I dove into researching and discussing with several health care professionals I found out that for someone in my situation and my age that PGS was not even indicated and it would not increase our chances of a successful pregnancy. There are many women who have perfectly PGS tested embryos that either do not implant or miscarry. My husband and I decided to do our first round opting out of PGS, we ended up with 4 great embryos and will transfer our first frozen transfer July 3. One at a time. If we have issues with these 4 transfers we will be back for another ER and PGS test those. This is what was best for US; do whatever you and your partner are most comfortable with! Good luck!

Our insurance didn’t cover Pgs testing (it does include some fertility coverage) and our fertility specialist didn’t recommend us doing this based on our fertility testing. We did debate on doing it though and asked questions in our consult

Depending on how many embryos you end up with.. 3 or more is a good amount to send in my opinion. 2 or less I would transfer.

It’s also safer for them to biopsy the embryos before the initial freezing process instead of thawing them to biopsy and refreezing them down the road if you encounter issues with implantation or miscarriage
