Married in September... Baby next year?
Glow Community Friends,
I have a few questions but here’s my mini story first:
My fiancé and I met 9 years ago, starting dating 7.5 years ago, and are getting married late September. Sometime in the last 6-8 months I’ve gotten serious baby fever. Potentially because close friends and coworkers have gotten pregnant.
We have tentatively decided to start trying for a baby in December, so I can make it through the stressful holidays without the addition of 1st trimester craziness. I started tracking my cycle two months ago and took my first ovulation test so I know how to maximize our chances when we do start trying. It’s kinda dumb how excited just taking an ovulation test made me feel.
Q1: Am I silly to not start trying as soon as the honeymoon is over? I know it could take us a bit.
Q2: We own a house and lived together 5 of the 7 years. Everyone tells us to just enjoy the first year of marriage instead of trying for a baby, but I honestly don’t think it’ll be much different. Am I missing something?
Q3: It seems like my ovulation actually happens later in my cycle than Glow thinks is normal/avg. Anyone else like this? Thoughts about how it might affect DPO pregnancy testing?
Q4: I get that you can’t actually control the gender of your baby but I’ve heard if you get pregnant 0-1 days around your ovulation then it’s likely a boy because Y sperm don’t live as long and 3-4 days around ovulation is likely a girl due to X sperm living longer. Anyone actually know if this is a myth or good science?
Thanks! I can’t wait to get to go through trying for a baby with you all.
