Baby shower thoughts and opinions??

So i was talking to my mom yesterday about ideas for my baby shower. I got to talking about themes and i mentioned having a tropical/luau themed shower considering my shower is in July and just figured itd be something fun for summer and what not. Booooyyy did she look at me so funny! She asked why would i want that and found it to be completely crazy. It kind of made me feel bad or even stupid for even having the idea and bringing it up honestly. She eventually just said shell do what she can if its really what i wanted but she just didn't get it. Sooo now im here second guessing and feeling like i should just do a traditional blue boys baby shower. Im not sure if I should insist on what i want or just let my mom do as she pleases since shes planning my shower. Help?
