If you had a unique baby name (at the time) that you loved for years, would you still use it if it became very popular the year you were pregnant?

Has this happened to you? Did you end up still using the name even though it became the top baby names of the year for your gender?

I would still use it but I would probably be insufferable and constantly mention that I loved the name a long time before it got popular 😂

Naming your baby is not a competition for creativity or uniqueness nor does it require an explanation.
As i read all these posts each day im surprised by the focus on being different. A common or popular name doesnt change whether you like it or not.

Even if I LOVED a name I’d avoid it if it was popular. I remember having 3 Samantha’s, Emily’s, Brandan’s, and Amanda’s in every class growing up Lol 
I avoid popular names for that reason alone not based on uniqueness.

Have you looked at the actual statistics? Names very rarely rise suddenly. Chances are it's been getting more and more popular for a long time, and you just weren't aware.
Whenever people say "I liked it since before it was popular" or whatever, it always sounds lame because 29 times out of 30, looking up the statistics shows that it's been popular the whole time.

We loved both the name Everleigh James and Paisley James for the last 6 years- then no one used them and now they are both extremely popular so my husband doesn’t want to use either. We might go with Sawyer Grace instead

My husband and I fell in love with the name Aidan 14 years ago. Doesnt bother us in the least that it's a popular name and our sweet Aidan will be here in less than 3 weeks!

Yep! My husband and I chose Olivia before I was ever even pregnant. I have only ever met one or two Olivias in my life before my daughter was born. Obviously it's very popular now and people avoid it for that reason. But we still love it and are happy we chose it. I have a common name (Sara born in 1990) and it never bothered me. I can't say if she will hate it when she's older, but for the time being my daughter gets really excited when she meets another Olivia at the park, it's kind of cute. 😂

I loved Sophie for years. But now I have my daughter another name because every single girl here is called Sophie. Still like it but also couldn’t hear it any longer. 
The names I chose for first and middle name are regular names though, NO „unique“ name or spelling. Just not as overused.

When I first started trying to have a baby the name Elizabeth or Rose was not very popular. Right now both are and it's made me a little sad but I'm going to stick with them when we have our first girl. Both are family names and mean a lot to me

Growing up I loved the name Wyatt... I just knew that would be my sons name if I ever had one... well in 2016 when I was pregnant with my son it was more popular so I went with Leo instead... now 2019 it seems to have really caught people attention so it’s even more popular. So it’s a no for baby boy #2 coming in October.
