I’m 38 weeks and 5 days with my first. He is measuring in the 90th percentile, and my fundal height is at two weeks ahead. My hospital doesn’t typically induce for big babies. I’m only 5’1, and my pre pregnancy weight was 110 pounds. At 37 weeks and 3 days, my baby boy was estimated to be 8 pounds and 6 ounces on the ultrasound. I am terrified.

My midwife went over all the risks. He could get stuck, we might need an emergency c section, etc. She said she would love to induce me, but she would need the OB to sign off on it, and they’re against me having an induction at this point. My cervix is super soft, but I’m only 1/2 cm dilated.

Basically, the plan is to cross our fingers and hope I go into labor before my due date (June 17). If I don’t, I have another growth scan scheduled for June 18... and if he is pushing the 10 pound mark... they are going to schedule a c-section.

I really don’t want surgery, guys. I am petrified at the thought of having one. I want to do whatever is safest for my baby, but I never thought I’d have to have one... I know there’s a chance I could go into labor beforehand, but I hear most first time moms don’t go into labor before 40 weeks...
