Umbilical fell off ... now what?

There is left over stuff in her belly button. Should I clean it out. Her umbilical just fell off 5 min ago. Should i wait to clean it?

I just leave it. It'll come out on it's own.

Every couple of days use a warm cotton tip to gently wipe out the dried up blood (usually just the darker top layer with a more pinkish red stuff underneath) and then a fresh dry one to dry it off. Having the crusty blood there can cause irritation to the area

My daughters pediatrician put some stuff on it to dry it up

My daughter had that to looked like mucus I left it and when it dried up I cleaned it when I washed her up.
