Did it hurt to get an iud

I’m getting mirena put in tomorrow and I’m pretty nervous. Did it hurt at all?

Honestly for me, yes! Nobody told me to take any pain meds before. It hurt sooo bad getting it put in. Then the T arms didn’t open like they were supposed to so she had to go back in. Then I had the worst cramps I’ve ever had all day. I had never given birth or anything before either so that’s probably why. It didn’t hurt to get it taken out though.

I'll be real. Getting it put in wasn't really bad. A little uncomfortable but not bad. I got it in the afternoon. About bed time, I was cramping so bad I was crying. I suggest making sure you have pain meds, wine, and a heating pad just in case.

I just tried today and I didn’t even get it it was so bad and it was the smaller iud. The pain was crazy. They had to try to dilate my cervix and it wouldn’t work. Definitely not getting the iud. I cried like a baby🤦🏽‍♀️

Girrrrlllll YES. I got the copper IUD put in and as a woman who has never gotten an IUD or given birth, the cramping was INTENSE. I recommend having a stress ball to squeeze and taking an ibuprofen a little before insertion. Its a cramping like pain and it did linger for a few days.

I got a numbing shot and also took 800 mg ibuprofen and 1000 mg Tylenol an hour before, I barely felt a little tickle when my IUD went it. Didn't hurt.

It’s more of uncomfortable pinch’s. They’ll tell you to breathe and my gyno told me to wiggle my toes! It helps you relax! Breathe through it and when you stand up be careful because you might be dizzy. The most pain I was in was after. The cramps were pretty bad all day. Try to get up and walk around with a heating pad if you can! It’ll help the cramping!
